7,258 students selected for KALIA Chhatra Brutti

Bhubaneswar: Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo today informed that at least 7,258 students will get scholarship under Kalia Chhatra Brutti Yojana to purse professional course in Government-run colleges across the State.
Of the 19m247 students applied for KALIA Scholarship, 7,258 applicants have been selected, added the Minister.
Students of at least 187 colleges had applied for the scholarship to purse higher studies.
In February this year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced scholarship scheme for students – Kalia Chhatra Brutti – to help the children of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) beneficiaries take up professional courses.
Under the scheme, the State Government will bear the educational expenses of the children chosen to enter Government professional colleges on the basis of merit.
