Sonepur, Dec 21: A 7-year girl from Odisha’s Subarnapur district grooms self as an ace swimmer. She covers more than 250 meter long pond within 10 minutes. The tiny tot, Rajeswari, who has just stepped to school this year is now catching attention of the locals. The mini-swimmer, who is famous for her indomitable courage is Rajeswari Sethi ,daughter of Prashant Sethy of Barihapada village under the Dunguripali block limit in Subarnapur district. Rajeswari, a student of Class-I, is very good at swimming in the village pond without any formal training. She has learnt it of her own, visiting the village ponds with her parents. Prashant said, Rajeswari was very playful from her early infancy. She was very fond of water than other toys, she was provided to play with. Her joys had no bounds when she visited the village pond for the first time in her life. That day, she gestured to take her into the pond water. When she was allowed to stand in feet-deep water she cheered up. Since then she had a special attraction for the pond. Gradually, her fondness became more powerful as she grew up into a five-year girl and went to the nearest pond with family members and friends on different occasions. Meanwhile, she was fascinated with the elders who swim in water out of fun. Taking it an interesting watery game, Rajeswari imitated the casual swimmers and attempted swimming. After long practice she succeeded to swim as others can do, and later competed with the village friends to excel in it, said Sethi. To everyone’s surprise, Rajeswari could swim away long ponds with ease. Especially, her swim and run(fast swim) has astonished the far and near villagers since she can cover up at least 250 meter long and deep-pond within few minutes, he added. “I want to see her as a professional swimmer. It’s why, I guide her every day, escort her while she practices. However, I can’t afford her for professional training with my broken financial status. I urge the sports official to give her a chance to prosper in her pursuit”, Said Prashant.
