7 trucks seized in Khordha for smuggling laterite stone

Khordha, Mar 2: The local police last night raided an illegal laterite stone quarry in Khordha district and seized seven laterite stone-laden trucks. A special team headed by Begunia tehsilday and police raided the quarry and found seven trucks were engaged in smuggling laterite stones. Several places in the district are blessed with huge natural resources including laterite stone. The district administration has poor control over the areas as a result stone mafias quarry laterite stone from the hilly area and supply outside the district. The local residents have been suffering as rampat quarrying creating serious pollution in the area. They have been demanding the district administration to take stringent action against stone mafias.
