39 bonded labourers rescued in Balangir

Balangir, Dec 20: Police rescued as many as 39 bonded labourers allegedly being trafficked to Taimil Nadu from Balangir district on Sunday evening. The rescued bonded labourers include 16 women and three children. They are from Jatesira village under Jagdalpur police station limits in Bargarh district, police sources said. Acting on a tip-off about human trafficking, Khaprakhol Police conducted raids at Gundurupali bus-stand on Khaprakhol-Dhandamunda road in Balangir district last evening.    They were allegedly being taken to Tamil Nadu by a middle-man, locally called as ‘Sardar’, to work as bonded labourer in a brick kiln in the southern state.
