3.82 L benefitted in a year under Odisha govt's BSKY

Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: As many as 3,81,937 beneficiaries have been provided healthcare services under the Odisha government's Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) between August 15, 2021, and August 15, 2022, the health department said.  Out of the total beneficiaries, 1,93,313 were male and 1,88,583 were female while 41 beneficiaries were from other categories. The state government has spent Rs 781,24,17,435 in this regard, said the health department. Similarly, as many as 13,157 patients have been covered under the scheme outside the state and the Odisha government has spent Rs 33,34,67,599 for them. The state government is spending around Rs 100 crore for the BSKY beneficiaries for the treatment of around 50,000 poor patients. The Odisha government has fixed a Rs 5 lakh limit for male patients and Rs 10 lakh for female beneficiaries at 357 hospitals in the state and 90 outside the state. The BJD government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the BSKY scheme on August 15, 2018 and the BSKY smart card was initiated on September 1 in 2021 as a hassle-free healthcare facility for the beneficiaries.
