20 Andhra villages seek aid: Five Odisha MLAs assure infra development

Koraput, Aug 16: Residents of as many as 20 villages of Andhra have sought aid from Odisha on Monday. Discontented over the Andhra Pradesh government's slow action, they are keen to join Odisha for better governance. On the other hand, five MLAs of Koraput district have assured to undertake development programmes in their area and today broke coconuts assuring development. Meanwhile, the locals of around 20 villages under Salur block and Kudma gram panchayat of Andhra Pradesh gathered at the border and appealed to the MLAs of Koraput district to include them in Odisha. Besides, they alleged that the area has been neglected by the Andhra Administration. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh government had scheduled to undertake a plethora of development projects around the Kotia group of villages in Koraput today. However, it failed as an all-party Committee visited Kotia in order to stand checkmates before the illegal move of Andhra. At the same time, local civic bodies, social outfits and public representatives raised their voices against Andhra combinedly. Similarly, the Koraput district administration deployed armed forces along the border to prevent law and order situation. As a result, Vijaynagaram Administration and Saluru MLA suspended their programmes inside Odisha territories.
