+2 student duped of Rs 4.42 lakhs on Family Loan App in Kandhamal

G Udayagiri, Jan 6: Cyber fraudsters have duped Rs 4.42 lakhs from a +2 student in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Thursday. The incident came to the fore when the parents of the victim lodged a complaint with the G Udayagiri police today. Sources said, the student downloaded the Family Loan App from the Google Play Store and applied for a loan. Subsequently, he received a message regarding approval of the loan. However, the responder asked to deposit Rs 6000 for documentation, security, and processing fees. Acting on it, the boy deposited the amount through e-transactions. However, the fraudsters looted Rs 4.42 lakh from the account of the boy and his parents as he shared the OTP and account credentials with the app handlers. Following this, a complaint has been registered with the G Udayagiri police. The complaint has been registered. The investigation is underway to reach the cyber looters, said police.
