1971 war heroes felicitated by Governor of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: In a function held today at Raj Bhawan, Governor of Odisha Professor Ganeshi Lal received the victory flame of Swarnim Vijay Barsh commemorating 1971 War victory. Speaking on the occasion, Governor proudly remembered the resounding victory of the Indian Army in the war which lead to the creation of the new Nation Bangladesh and surrender of the soldiers of the Pakistan Army. He acknowledged the major role played by Armed Forces personnel belonging to Odisha who took part in the war and said that the nation owes a big debate to them.  A total number of 154 War heroes who took part in 1971 War were honoured by the Governor with a Memento and Shawl. In the function Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Brig. Prasant Chouhan(Sena Medal),Commander-Chhatisgarh & Odisha Sub-area, Lt. Gen. S.Mohan, SM,VSM, GOC,HQ,MB area and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.  Earlier in the day, the Flame was taken to the homes of 1971 War Veterans .MWO Loknath Sahoo(Retd.), Maj. General B.K.Mohanty(AVSM-Retd.) and Col. Ramesh Chandra Patra (Retd.) & Lt.Col. Shivaram Satpathy(Retd.).
