18 workers from Ganjam kept hostage in Dubai

Bhubaneswar: As many as 18 Odia workers from Ganjam district have been exploited and kept hostage at a firm in Dubai, according to reports. The workers, who hail from Kairasi and Manikapur area of Khallikote block, have not received salary for the last seven months. The firm owner is torturing them whenever they demand payment of salary, said reports. The workers were taken to Dubai with a promise of monthly salary of Rs 35,000 but they are not getting any salary there, family members alleged and urged the State Government to bring back them to Odisha soon.
