Youth arrested in Odisha for posting video of goat meat being infected with coronavirus

Nabarangpur, March 20: Continuing its crackdown on rumour mongers, Odisha Police on Thursday arrested a youth for spreading fake news related to coronavirus. Raighar police in Nabarangpur district arrested the youth after he shared a video claiming that goat meat has been infected with the deadly virus. Earlier the State government has also warned of stringent action against rumour mongers under the ‘COVID-19 Odisha Regulations, 2020’. The state police so far have arrested several persons for spreading rumours on the deadly virus on social networking platforms. The sale of chicken, mutton and fish in the state has been badly affected after rumours of transmission of novel coronavirus through consumption of these items. The State government has also clarified that there was no specific evidence that coronavirus spreads through eating chicken, mutton and fish.
