Winter session of Odisha Assembly adjourned sine die one month ahead

Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The winter session of the Odisha Assembly was today adjourned sine die a month ahead of the schedule. The session was scheduled to continue till December 31. Speaker Dr. Surjya Narayana Patro adjourned the proceeding sine die on Sunday evening after passage of Rs 11700 crore supplementary budget. The house was adjourned after Government Chief Whip Pramilla Mallik brought a motion to curtail the session stating that there is no more official business for the session so it should be adjourned. She was supported by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha and BJD MLAs including Amar Prasad Satpathy. On the other hand Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati opposed the motion. The BJP legislators walked out of the house in protest and staged dharna near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. During the session two adjournment motions were discussed and 1192 out of 1332 replies to the written questions were tabled. One motion was discussed.
