New Delhi, Jan 31: With death of at least 213 people in China, the new coronavirus has been declared a global emergency by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The move comes as the outbreak continues to spread outside Chine.
The WHO chief Tedros Adhanom raised concern that it could spread to other countries. The WHO said 98 cases had been detected in 18 other countries, but no deaths reported.
Meanwhile, the US has advised its citizens not to travel to China.
At least 231 people have died after the virus emerged in Hubei province of China and over 1000 cases have been reported across the state.
