Water-logging hits normal life in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: Normal life in all low-lying areas in millennium city of Cuttack has been hit due to water-logging caused by continuous rains occurring for over 12 hours.

Knee-deep water was still flowing in the low lying areas like Suta Haat, Patapola and Darji Sahi while the situation has improved in other areas, including Badambadi. Due to inundation, residents have faced difficulties in moving to work places. Children are staying indoors as rainwater has entered houses. Movement of motorcycles, three-wheeler and cars has been stopped.

According to the CMC Commissioner, situation has improved in some areas as rainwater is being pumped out with motors and it would take four-to-five hours for restoration of normalcy if rain stops. As many as 198 motor pumps have been put in service, he said.
