Violent protest by women case: 9 arrested in Bhadrak

Bhadrak, Oct 29: The Bonth police today arrested nine persons for barging into block office at Bonth and attacking police and government officials over dismissal of women’s’ association president and secretary.

On Wednesday, atleast six persons including four police personnel were injured in the violent protest by the women’s association members against the dismissal of the Secretary and President of their Gram Panchayat Level Federation (GPLF).

The police personnel present on the spot had tried to prevent the protestors for which they were also attacked. As many as four police personnel and two officials including an OLM coordinator and the Block Project Manager (BPM) were injured during the violent protest.

“We are also checking the CCTV footage and conducting raids to nab other culprits in the incident,” said a police official.
