Keonjhar: Supporters of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik today gheraoed Anandpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer’s (SDPO) office in Anandapur protesting yesterday’s attack on the former.
The supporters resorted to agitation even after police arrested eight persons in connection with the case. The arrested persons belonged to two groups indulged in the fight yesterday.
Notably, OPCC president Patnaik, Ramesh Jena and 20 others, belonging to both the BJD and the Congress, were injured in the fight occurred during an election rally being conducted by the former.
Following the incident, Patnaik lodged an FIR at Ramchandrapur police station and went to Anandpur Hospital for treatment.
Today, Ramchandrapur police arrested eight persons in connection with the poll-related violence at Gadabandhagoda Bhandaripada in Keonjhar district.
Patnaik is contesting from Jashipur Assembly constituency. Hunt is on to nab other accused. Kenojhar Lok Sabha seat and seven Assembly segments coming under the parliamentary constituency will go to polls on Tuesday.
