Bhubaneswar: National president of BJP Mahila Morcha Vijaya Rahatkar today lambasted Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik for remaining silent on the issues related to the cases of atrocities and violence against women and children in State.
Rahatkar who arrived in Bhubaneswar today to attend the national convention of party’s Mahila Morcha beginning from today at Puri, said, “Atrocities against women are increasing in State. Children are also not safe here. Cases of rape are on rise. It is unfortunate that CM Naveen Patnaik has not uttered a single word on these issues. There is an anti-women government running in Odisha.”
All these issues will be raised in the 3-day convention, she added.
Informing on the party organisation in women wing in Odisha, she said as many as 8,000 Mahila Shakti Kendras are functioning in the State. The women members of the party will strengthen the booth for which five members will work in booth level, she added.
Party national President Amit Shah will address the convention tomorrow, she informed.
Apart from national office-bearers of the Morcha, several Union women ministers, MPs, State Mahila Morcha presidents and Secretaries will attend the national executive committee meeting. Atrocities and violence against women will be the major agenda of the national convention, she added.
With an aim to galvanise the cadres ahead of the general polls, the party has organised the mega event.
Shah who exuded confidence that BJP would sweep the next assembly election in Odisha had advised the party men to work on ground at grassroots level during his last visit on July 1.
