Pipli, Aug 10: An additional veterinary assistant surgeon in Pipili has been caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a person today. The vigilance sleuth has lo recovered and seized the bribe amount was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Dr Subhranshu Sahu.
According to reports, Sahu had demanded bribe of Rs 6,000 from one Sanatana Behera of Matiapoda village in Uttarabada area in Puri district to pass bill of Rs. 70,000 in favour of the compliant and Niranjan Behera.
“The received the bribe money in his right hand and after counting kept the amount in the concerned file of compliant. The bribe amount was recovered from the possession of Dr Sahoo and seized,” said an official.
A case has also been registered in this regard.
Earlier in the day, the Vigilance police today conducted raids at Chilika Wildlife Division Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Alok Ranjan Hota’s houses on charges of accumulating disproportionate assets to his known source of income.
