Bhubaneswar: The Utkal University authorities today decided to postpone all the examinations scheduled to be held on Thursday in view of the 12-hour Odisha bandh call given by Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS), a farmers’ body.
“The re-examination schedule of the aforesaid date will be notified later,” a notification issued by Controller of Examinations stated. The re-scheduled date of the exams will be notified later on, it added.
The State Government on Tuesday also urged the NNKS to call off its proposed Odisha bandh scheduled for February 21 in view of the Matriculation examination beginning Friday.
“The Odisha Government urged the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan to desist from going on Odisha bandh on 21st February, a day before Matriculation Exam, which would inconvenience examinees, parents and teachers and disrupt movement of questions papers,” posted a Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in his official Facebook account.
The NNKS has called for a 12-hour Odisha Bandh on February 21 to protest demanding price, pension and prestige for farmers.
Meanwhile, Congress and BJP decided to extend support to the shutdown called in the State by NNKS.
However, NNKS convenor Akshay Kumar said that they will observe a peaceful bandh tomorrow.
