Bhubaneswar, 15/11: The issue of Haridaspur PEO Smitarani Biswal’s mysterious death had its impact on the state assembly for the third day on Wednesday. The Opposition BJP members, who had not participated in the discussion on the adjournment motion on the issue on Tuesday, today tied black hankies on their mouth and put black towels around their neck to lodge their protest. Though the Question Hour went on smoothly, after the BJP members took out the black clothes from their mouth and neck, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the assembly proceedings for 30 minutes till 12 noon to hold all party meet to discuss how to ensure smooth running of the House. The House on Tuesday discussed the adjournment motion moved by Opposition Congress members. Although the Congress legislators participated in the discussion, the BJP members, however, stayed away from the discussion. They on the other hand had staged protest in the Well of the House shouting slogans and holding placards. Both the Congress and BJP legislators had demanded CBI inquiry into Smitarani’s death. However, the state government had rejected the demand. Congress members had staged walk out in protest.
