Jharsuguda, April 16: An undertrial prisoner from Jharsuguda sub-jail attempted suicide by jumping from the third floor of the court building today. The prisoner, identified as Sanatan Singh, is facing charges of misdemeanor and was scheduled to appear in court. Despite efforts from both his lawyer and the police to prevent the act, Singh expressed a desire to end his life and jumped, resulting in injuries. However, he was rescued and taken to the district hospital for treatment.
Singh had been on the run after being accused of molesting a minor in the Junadihi area in 2022. However, he was apprehended by Belapahada police in 2023 and subsequently brought before the court for legal proceedings.
