Cuttack, May 24: A day after Odisha government allowed online sale of liquor, traders of Cuttack on Sunday demanded offline sale of alcohol along with home delivery facility. Welcoming the government’s online liquor sale decision in the state, the Cuttack District Foreign Liquor Traders’ Association Secretary Biranchi Narayan Sahu said the government should also allow opening of shops for offline sale of liquor. The traders will be able to meet the monthly Minimum Guarantee Quota (MGQ) fixed by the state government only through offline sale of liquor, he said. If the government does not allow the offline sale, liquor traders in Cuttack will not open their shops for online sale, he added. On the other hand, a group of liquor shop owners in Bhubaneswar have expressed their unwillingness for home delivery of liquor citing that attack on delivery boys cannot be ruled out.
