Bhadrak, Aug 2: A 50-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan at his home at Rajuali Bindhia village in the district on Sunday. He was reportedly under duress due to a debt of Rs 50,000 taken from private financers.
The deceased has been identified as Mahendra Das.
According to sources, Das’s family members had taken Rs 50,000 form four private finance companies and were unable to repay the debt. On the other hand, the finance companies had been demanding the loan amount.
On Sunday morning, his family members found him hanging from the ceiling and informed the local police.
“He was under mental pressure as he was unable to pay the loan. He has taken the extreme steps under mental pressure,” said the deceased’s family members.
