Mayurbhanj: Mayurbhanj Collector today suspended Udala Ashram School matron Subarna Madhei and transferred headmaster Kailash Chandra Mohapatra after a Class-IX girl was found to be pregnant.
The pregnancy report came to the fore after the Headmaster of the school lodged a complaint at the Udala police station this morning.
According to reports, a medical test has been conducted on the victim by a team of doctors at the Baripada Medical College and Hospital.
However, it is still unclear how and under what circumstances the girl was impregnated.
Headmaster Mohapatra said that the minor girl’s pregnancy was detected after the ANM examined her recently.
Last month, three minor girls, including two inmates of State-run residential schools were found pregnant in different parts of the State while a 14-year-old girl delivered a baby in her hostel in Daringibadi in Kandhamal district. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights also put the State administration on notice over such shameful incidents in Government residential schools.
