Two Covid warriors booked for allegedly violating coronavirus norms in Koraput

Jeypore, July 19: Borigumma police in Koraput district has booked two Covid warriors for allegedly violating Covid-19 norms leading to outbreak of the deadly virus in the area. Police have registered a case against Rajaram Swain in-charge of Borigumma Community Health Centre (CHC) and Kshirabdi Behera working as Public Health Extension Officer. Police said that the case was lodge on the basis of a complaint filed by advocate A Santosh Kumar Dora. Dora alleged that Behera visited Covid hotspot Berhampur on June 10 and subsequently returned to Borigumma on June 20. Behera, however, instead of staying in quarantine continued his duty at the CHC. Behera allegedly chaired a meeting with 35 health workers of the CHC and even attended a wedding. Behera was tested positive for Covid-19 on June 28. “Despite being a health worker he flouted the norms and as a result of which others who came in contact with him infected the virus. Swain, on the other hand is also responsible for not asking Behera for quarantine,” alleged Dora.
