Bhubaneswar: A day after recovering the Tata Indicash ATM machine that was uprooted and looted at Tulasipur Chhak under Begunia station in Puri canal near Pahala area on the city outskirts, Khurda police today arrested persons in this connection.
Shiba Prasad Das and Susanta Parida were arrested and forwarded to the court. Police seized Rs 60,000 cash, two mobile phones, a gas cutter, gas cylinder, one welding machine, several ATM cards, pick-up van and one hammer from their possession.
The ATM machine was looted on November 11 night.
During investigation the Khurda police found the machine lying abandoned in the canal on Friday. It was found that Shiba an IT Engineering pass-out and Susanta Parida of Nayagarh committed the crime.
They targeted the ATM machine as it was installed in an isolated place a few meters away from the main market.
On November 11 night, they came in a Mahindra Pickup van and pulled down the whole ATM machine by using gas cutter and broke the cash chamber and took away the money and distributed amongst themselves.
Later, they cut the machine into pieces and threw it in Puri Canal near Pahal.
