Two arrested for selling duplicate gold brick at Rs 5 lakh in Odisha

Cuttack, Oct 28: Choudwar police today arrested two persons for allegedly selling a fake gold brick. Police have seized cash worth Rs 1.45 lakh and one duplicate gold brick weighing 900 grams from the accused identified as Bijay Behera and Sangram Mahato. Police said that the accused had sold the brick to one Sujit Kumar Maharana of Choudwar claiming that it contained pure gold. “The accused had sold the duplicate gold brick at a price of Rs 5 lakh. The complainant later found the brick was made of brass,” said a police official. Police said that they are also trying to nab other accused involved in the cheating. “ We are further verifying the antecedents of the accused while efforts are on to recover the rest money,” added the police official.
