Phulbani, Aug 8: The Kandhamal district administration has said that the vegetable market will be opened at DRDA Square instead of BTM field after the Phulbani Chamber of Commerce had opposed the move of the administration.

According to reports, the administration has imposed strict restrictions on the sale of essential goods from 7 am to 1 pm and had shifted the vegetable market from DRDA Chhak to BTM field here which was opposed by the traders’ body.

The body had also called for market shutdown from today demanding that all shops be open from 7 am to 5 pm, and that vegetable markets be allowed to open at DRDA Square as before.

Following their proposal, today the trade union closed all shops and staged a protest at the market square.

The administration accepted all other demands, except the opening of shops till 5 pm. The administration allowed opening of vegetable market at DRDA Square here as before, maintaining social distance from 7 am. to 1 pm.
