Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre here issued thunderstorm, lightning and rainfall alert for six districts of the State between 11.15 am and 2.15 pm today.

As per the latest MeT Centre bulletin, “Moderate thunderstorm/lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Dhenkanal between 11.15 am and 2.15 pm today.”

Meanwhile, the State Government on Saturday put all 30 district Collectors to remain on alert as the State is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain over the next three days due to a low-pressure area that may concentrate into a depression over the Bay of Bengal.

It especially directed the administrative machinery of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri and Balasore to remain alert to meet any localised flood/water logging situation that may arise in the event of extremely very heavy rainfall.
