Bhubaneswar: At least three new Cyber Crime police stations will be set up in Bhubaneswar, Balasore and Jeypore, informed Director General of Police (DGP) Dr RP Sharma.
The three new cyber police stations will be set up as there has been an alarming rise in cyber crimes in the State.
The DGP said while 120 cyber cases were registered in the State in 2013, the figure went up to 868 in 2018. In proportion to the number of cyber cases, there aren’t adequate numbers of cyber police stations in the State to deal with these cases.
“Hence, three more cyber police stations will come up in Bhubaneswar, Balasore and Jeypore,” said Sharma.
He also said that the number of investigating officers will also be increased to handle the cases.
