Three arrested in Cuttack for extortion bid

Cuttack, Oct 17: A day after Commissionerate Police launched Anti Extortion Task Force, Mangalabag police in Cuttack arrested three persons for allegedly demanding extortion from a businessman. The accused have been identified as Rajesh Pal (30), Srikanta Behera (30) and Bhabani Shankar Rout (30). Police said that the accused have demanded extortion of Rs 5 lakh from a businessman. “On Friday the accused have detained one businessman at Secondary Board High School Ground and threatened him to pay Rs 5 lakh as extortion money. They also threatened the businessman of dire consequences if he failed to pay the money,” said a police official. Police said that further investigation in the case is continuing and a special police team has been engaged to track others involved in extortion.
