Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at the main gate of Orissa High Court in Cuttack as two groups of lawyers scuffled over joining in court works this morning.
According to reports, members of the BJD Legal Front were stopped from entering the High Court premises by the rest members of the lawyers group. Consequently, a scuffle erupted between them in the presence of police. In the two incident, two persons were injured.
The disagreement erupted as the BJD Legal Front yesterday announced to join court works in the interest of people. Accordingly, the front members came to join court works. As many as 25 platoons of police force were deployed in the High Court area to avert untoward incidents.
According to latest information, the BJD Legal Front members have agreed to hold further talks even as they have remained firm on their earlier decision. They said they would continue the protest by wearing red ribbons during work hours.
It may be noted that lawyers have been resorting to cease-work agitation in Cuttack and other places demanding arrest of police officials involved in attack of a lawyer over a bike accident on August 27.
