Bhubaneswar: Days after a Congress leader who failed to get ticket for the ensuing Assembly election in Telangana alleged that the son of AICC screening committee chairman Bhakta Charan Das has taken graft to field candidate, the Congress heavyweight today said that he will quit politics if anybody proves the allegation.
Notably Kmya Mallesh, Congress aspirant for the Ibrahimpatnam constituency, alleged that Das’s son has demanded Rs 3 crore for allotting the ticket for the December 7 elections in Telangana.
“Allegations are completely baseless. The seat for which Telangana leader K Mallesh was interested and wanted a party ticket went to grand alliance,” said Das.
He said, “It is a conspiracy hatched against me by those who were denied Congress ticket. I will quit politics if anybody proves that I have taken even Rs 5 from anyone,” dared the Congress veteran.
