Talcher sizzles at 44.6 degree Celsius

Bhubaneswar: Sweltering heatwave conditions continued to prevail in several parts of Odisha on Sunday as 11 places recorded above 40 degree Celsius.

Talcher recorded highest temperature of 44.6 degree C followed by Sambalpur, Titlagarh, Malkangiri with 44 degree Celsius, Bolangir 43.8 degree Celsius, Sonepur-43.6 degree Celsius, Hirakud-43.1 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda-43 degree Celsius, Bhawanipata-42.6 degree Celsius, Angul-41.1 degree Celsius and Sundergarh-41 degree Celsius.

State capital Bhubaneswar recorded the day temperature at 39.2 degree Celsius while its neighbouring Cuttack registered 38.1 degree Celsius.

On Saturday, mercury level at nine places also hovered over 44 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, the IMD forecast said the prevailing heatwave condition will continue in some parts of the State till May 28.
