Bhubaneswar: The State Government today transferred Satkosia Wildlife DFO SMT Rehman amid the public outrage over the killing of a woman and a cow reportedly by tigress Sundari.
The action was taken reportedly after tigress Sundari – suspected to have killed a woman in Satkosia on September 12 and a cow on September 18 triggering panic in several villages in Athmallik and Dhandatopa ranges of Angul district.
The two-and-a-half-year-old tigress – which was brought to Satkosia tiger reserve from Bandhavgarh sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh in June – was spotted by a Wildlife Institute of India (WII) team in the adjoining Athgarh forest division on Sunday.
The tigress was released to the wild from her enclosure on August 17.
Meanwhile, the autopsy report of the woman allegedly killed by Sundari confirmed that the death had been caused by a carnivorous animal.
