Bhubaneswar: The State Government today extended summer vacation of schools till June 25 in view of prevailing heat wave.
The schools were scheduled to reopen on Wednesday.
The schools, which were scheduled to reopen after summer vacation on June 19, would now open from June 25, said School and Mass Education Department Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.
Sources said decision was taken in view of the prevailing high level humidity condition across the State.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has predicted that the monsoon will hit Odisha on June 22.
Notably, the State Government announced summer vacation in the schools from April 18, three weeks ahead of schedule this time.
