Puri, April 18: Sudasa Brata was performed in Puri Jagannath Temple on Thursday.
Goddess Laxmi was offered a special puja by the servitors besides performing other rituals, fixed for the Trinity, presiding the 11th century shrine.
On the occasion of the Sudasa Brata, the Shri Jagannath shrine in puri took a new deck in the noon after thousands of women thronged the Maa Laxmi Temple for offering puja here. The core servitors of Maa Laxmi then offered special pudding, cakes and Khaja Prasad to the goddess following their obeisance according to the Laxmi Puran.
Source said, the servitors offered Bala Bhog to the Goddess of Wealth and prosperity, in the morning whereas special Khaja bhogs were presented in the afternoon.
Apart from worshipping maa Laxmi, special rituals were followed in the Shri Jagannath Temple, Bimal Temple and other temples on the campus throughout the day.
Worth mentioning, the Sudasa Brata is generally performed on Thursday on which the tens day of any bright lunar fortnight (Sukla Pakshya) coincides with it. It’s commonly celebrated by the Hindu women for all-round prosperity.
