Sundergarh: Koida police today arrested at least six persons for allegedly killing a woman and her four children suspecting them of practicing sorcery.
The bodies of Mangri Munda and her four children were found from a well on January 26 at Indupur village under Koida Police limits in Sundergarh district.
Police arrested the accused acting on an FIR filed by the deceased’s husband Sudam Munda. Sudam lodged the FIR with the Koida police after he found his wife and children missing after he returned from work on Saturday.
During investigation, the police found that one Budhram used to practice sorcery in the village. When the daughter of a couple fell ill, they took her to Budhram but she died. A few days later, their second daughter also fell sick.
Budhram convinced the couple that Mangri Munda and her children are witches and responsible for the incidents.
After being convinced by the Budhram, the couple hatched a plan to eliminate Mangri and her children. And on January 26, when Mangri’s husband Sudam was not at home, they forcefully barged into their house and brutally killed them and dumped the bodies in the well nearby.
