Sociology Dept of Ravenshaw University conducts online symposium

Cuttack, July 15: The Department of Sociology, Ravenshaw University as part of its four day national webinar series (13-16 July 2020) on “Higher Education during Pandemic” organized a symposium today through online mode. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Tattwamasi Paltasingh, Sambalpur University. During the course of her deliberation, key issues related to the conduct of online education during the Covid-19 pandemic were discussed and the panellists included range of speakers from various corners of eastern India engaged in teaching, research and educational administration. Dr. Bimal Chandra Nanda, IGNOU, Raipur, Dr. Pabitra Mohan Nayak and Dr. Sipra Sagarika from F.M. University, Balasore, Mr. Sujit Kumar Mohanty and Dr. Aditya Keshari Mishra from Central University of Odisha, Koraput, Dr. Manasmita Mahapatra, G.M. University, Sambalpur, and Dr. Vandana Barik, Balasore College, Sovarampur brainstormed on the challenges, which Indian academia is facing right now. Faculties, research scholars and students also enthusiastically participated thereby proving the point that the pandemic cannot curb the hunger of knowledge. Dr. Bikram Keshari Mishra, HoD, Sociology, Ravenshaw University and convener of the programme said that in present circumstances webinars are being conducted throughout the country with the sole aim of imparting knowledge using the available technological tools at our disposal. “This is just the beginning of a new era in Indian education. We are also in the process of formulating a policy guideline which will be submitted to the Government of Odisha in due course of time basing upon the recommendations made during the four day national webinar series,” said Mishra. Dr. James Kindo, co-convener introduced the guests and Dr. Manoj Das, Faculty, Economics coordinated the symposium.
