Smuggled gold seized at city airport

Bhubaneswar: Air Intelligence sleuths of Customs Department have seized 279 grams of the gold worth Rs 9.08 lakh from two passengers at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here.

Acting on specific intelligence input, the officers intercepted two passengers, hailing from West Bengal, who had arrived from Bangkok by an AirAsia flight on Tuesday night.

On searching their luggage, smuggled gold weighing 278.83 grams of the gold worth Rs 8 lakh was seized from their possession.

They were immediately taken into the custody of the Customs and being interrogated now, the sources added.
