Bhubaneswar: The BJP women’s wing today launched a State-wide stir and gheraoed the Collectors’ offices across the State as a mark of its protest against the attacks and harassment of women and the failure of the State Government in dealing with the controversial case of the death of a lady Village Level Worker (VLW) in Jajpur district.
The BJP Mahila Morcha activists led by senior party leaders staged demonstrations in front of all the Collectorates in the State demanding resignation of State Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson for her alleged failure to protect the rights of women from the State and her stand in the investigation relating to the mysterious death of the VLW Smitarani Biswal.
The protestors alleged that though 20 days have been passed since Smitarani Biswal died but the mystery surrounding her death is yet to be solved.
They also protested the objectionable character assassination of Smitarani by Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena and the reluctance.
The protestors also raked up the issue of alleged sexual harassment of a woman employee of Kendrapara Credit Co-operative Society by its president Pramod Sahu who recently resigned from the BJD.
