Sheep ‘thieves’ thrashed in Balipatna

Balipatna, July 4: At least four persons were allegedly beaten up by locals of Bhenkataraypur village under Banamalipur police outpost for allegedly attempting to steal sheep from the village today.

According to sources, as many as five persons broke into a cattle shade of one Sagar Khuntia of the village at around 10 am.

However, some local residents spotted the miscreants and nabbed four of them, while one managed to escape from the spot. The villagers allegedly thrashed them before informing the police.

Later, on being informed, the police reached the village and rescued them before arresting them.

Worth mentioning here, over 800 sheep have been stolen from the area in the last six months, while the sheep theft cases have increased during the coronavirus lockdown.
