Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appointed Prafulla Chandra Ghadai as the party State vice president.
The party had revoked the suspension of Ghadai on March 18. Notably, Patnaik had expelled Ghadai in September 2014 for his alleged anti-party activities.
Ghadai’s son Pritiranjan Ghadai is contesting from Sukinda Assembly constituency.
Earlier in the day, Biju Janata Dal president Patnaik appointed Ghadai as senior observer for Khurda, Ranapur and Chilika Assembly constituencies. Ghadai was elected to the State Assembly a number of times. He was denied a ticket by the party in the 2014 election.
Patnaik is roping in several senior party leaders to oversee the party’s electioneering in some Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies that will go polls on April 18, 23 and 29.
