Savitri Ratho takes oath as Orissa High Court Judge

Cuttack, June 11: Senior woman lawyer Savitri Ratho took oath as a new Judge of the Orissa High Court on Thursday. She was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq here. She was appointed as a Judge of the Orissa High Court on June 9 by the President of India. The number of Judges reached 16 in the state High Court with appointment of Justice Ratho. The Supreme Court Collegium on January 22 had approved a proposal for the elevation of the senior lawyer. She is the third woman Judge of the Orissa High Court after Amiya Kumari Padhi and Sanju Panda. Earlier, she was posted as Additional Government Advocate of the state government. She is daughter of former Director General of Police (DGP) Prafulla Rath.
