Sarpanches vow to keep vigil on people returning from other states to villages

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday administered oath to 6798 sarpanchs of the state to keep vigil on people who are returning to village from other states and make all necessary arrangements to keep them in a 14-day quarantine with proper care. During the video conferencing interaction the sarpanchs vowed to keep villagers coming from outside the state in quarantine and to look after their stay, food and medicines. The Chief Minister had earlier announced to provide free stay, food and medicines to quarantined people and an incentive of Rs 2,000 after completion of the 14-day quarantine period. The Chief Minister had also conferred powers of a district collector on the sarpanchs to ensure mandatory quarantine of returnees at the panchayats.
