Sameer Mohanty replaces Basant Panda as Odisha BJP president

Bhubaneswar, Jan 16: Putting an end to all speculations, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state vice-president Sameer Mohanty replaced Basant Panda as the new guard of Odisha unit on Thursday. He was elected unanimously as the new president of the state BJP, said a party leader. The BJP had announced to change its Odisha guard on January 17 and the nomination process for the election was scheduled to be held today at the party headquarters in the presence of Central observers for organizational polls – Narendra Singh Tomar and Rajiv Pratap Rudy. There were a number of senior leaders in the race to lead the party’s state unit. However, vice-president Sameer Mohanty got elected as the new president unanimously a day before the scheduled election.
