Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Dr Damodar Rout on Wednesday said police are not properly investigating the former Anandpur block Chairman murder case as locals killed him to satiate political interest.

“Former Anandpur block Chairman Rama Chandra Behera was killed by locals for political interest. Police are not conducting investigation properly. A high-level probe should be conducted to bring culprits to the fore,” demanded Rout.

Notably, some miscreants had brutally hacked limbs of Behera at his house at Dhakota village under Andandpur area in Keojhar district on Monday night. He died while being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Following the incident, family members and villagers had blocked the National Highway-20 keeping the body on the road, disrupting vehicular movement for hours. However, they withdrew the stir only after four persons were arrested by police.
