Road map prepared to make Bhubaneswar and Puri beggar-free

Bhubaneswar, 10 /10: Capital city of Bhubaneswar and pilgrim city of Puri will be beggar-free. An instruction to this effect has been issued to the district and police administrators of Khurda and Puri. Apart from making the two cities beggar-free, the  government has planned to provide financial assistance to the beggars and rehabilitate them under “Sahay Yojana”. {"id":19099,"width":589,"height":671} Be it the streets of the capital city of Bhubaneswar or the heritage city of Puri, no where there will be seen scenes  of beggars begging alms. The government has mulled to make these two cities beggar-free. The beggars will be rehabilitated under the “Sahay” scheme. This move of the government has been welcomed at various levels. {"id":19100,"width":593,"height":300} As per the plan, beggars can no more move in various posh localities such as AG Square, Airport area and state secretariat to beg. The beggars begging in front of Lingaraj temple and Ram temple will be removed from the spot.Similarly, plan has been drawn up to make the Grand Road of Puri beggar-free. State’s Development Commissioner has issued directions to this effect to the district and police administrations of the above two districts. Apart from the devotees, tourists  and city denizens, the beggars themselves have expressed happiness over this move of the government. As per official sources, so far all total 6,390 beggars have been identified across the state. Of them, 2,886 persons have been rehabilitated under the Sahay scheme.
