Bhubaneswar: Finally, Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik managed to calm down disgusted Ripunath Seth, who was reportedly dissatisfied over selection of candidate for the ensuing Bijepu by-election, during a meetimg between them held here today.
Ripunath, who was fielded by the Congress for the Bijepur Assembly seat in the last election held in April this year, wanted that his son be made the candidate for the ensuing by-poll. Though his son’s name figured in the list of four probable candidates, still the central leadership chose Dillip Panda as the party’s camdidate.
Dissatisfied Seth met Patnaik at latter’ residence here this morning. They held a close door discussion for about 45 minutes and all differences were shorted out, said reports.
“Ripunath will campaign for Dilip Panda in Bijepur Assembly constituency from today. He had no disargeement with party. He is a senior leader of the Congress,” said the PCC president.
“I had my personal problems. Now, I am free to work for the party,” said Ripunath.
Notably, Ripunath had emerged third position in the last elections held in April 2019. He had got a little over 14,000 votes only against BJP candidate Sanat Gartia’s 53, 000 and winner BJD candidate Naveen Patnaik’s 1,10,000 votes.
