Bhubaneswar: Former Minister Bijay Mohapatra and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray will quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.
Ray will also resign as MLA, besides quitting the party. For this, he will meet Assembly Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat and submit a hand-written resignation letter.
Mohapatra told the noted News7 TV channel that he and Ray would quit the party after holding a final round of discussion on Friday.
But he did not disclose which the two senior leaders would join after leaving the BJP. However, it is now being discussed in media circles that they might rejoin the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Ray said he woud quit BJP as the Centre has failed in keeping promises of constrcting a second bridge over the Brahmani river at Rourkela and and upgrading of the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a medical college.
