Bhubaneswar: Justice Raghubir Das Commission of Inquiry constituted to probe into the Shree Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar missing key incident today sought extension of its tenure for another three months.
The Commission of Inquiry has already completed three months yesterday having been formed on June 6.
On June 6, the State Government appointed Raghubir Das, a retired justice of Orissa High Court, as the chairman of the judicial commission, to probe the circumstances leading to mysterious loss of the keys of Jagannath temple’s inner Ratna Bhandar (treasury) and has been asked to submit report within three months.
On July 31, the Commission of Inquiry held its first sitting in Puri.
The missing of Bhitar Ratna Bhandar key was first reported by the then Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal in the temple managing committee meeting held soon after the ASI expert team’s return as the door of the Ratna Bhandar could not be opened. The team had earlier been directed by Orissa High Court to examine the extent of damage to the Ratna Bhandar structure.
On April 4, Puri Collector informed the Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator that despite search, the missing key could not be found.
